Women’s & Young Lawyers Committee: “Beyond Being a Lawyer!”
The New Zealand Asian Lawyers Young Lawyers & Women’s Committee presents: Beyond Being a Lawyer!
When: Thursday 5 September from 5:15 pm
Where: Simpson Grierson- 88 Shortland Street Level 27 Auckland, Auckland 1010
Join the New Zealand Young Asian Lawyers and Women Asian Lawyers Committees for an inspiring panel discussion, Beyond Being a Lawyer, where we bring together a diverse group of professionals with experience or backgrounds in law to discuss how their passions have manifested and shaped their careers.
Our panelists have found unique ways to blend their legal expertise with their personal passions. Whether it’s championing environmental reform, exploring creative pursuits, or choosing a pathway beyond law, these individuals have carved out fulfilling careers while juggling the pressures of working in or studying law.
During this engaging event, our panelists will share their stories, insights, and advice on how they’ve navigated their careers to incorporate their passions. Our discussion will cover a variety of perspectives on balancing work obligations with personal interests, exploring how cultural identity has played into our panelists’ journeys, and considering the role of our community, peers, and colleagues in supporting our pursuits.
We are very excited to introduce you to our panelists:
Lydia Chai: Solicitor at Simpson Grierson and environmental activist.
Vivian Mitchell: Solicitor at DLA Piper New Zealand and small business owner.
Alonzo Nieves: CEO & Co-Founder of eVouch and law graduate.
Don’t miss the opportunity to network with like-minded individuals and be inspired by the stories of those who have successfully integrated their passions with their careers. This event is free of charge, and everyone is welcome to join us for an evening of meaningful discussion and community building!
A special thanks to Simpson Grierson for supporting and sponsoring this event. Simpson Grierson is one of New Zealand’s largest and leading commercial law firms and a strong promoter of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
