Yvonne is a barrister at Britomart Chambers. She has over a decade’s experience in litigation with particular expertise in commercial crimes, civil fraud litigation, proceeds of crime, regulatory and professional disciplinary proceedings.
Yvonne has appeared as counsel representing the New Zealand Bar Association and the New Zealand Law Society in notable cases, as well as having been appointed as counsel to assist the High Court and the Supreme Court. She is a senior prosecutor on the Serious Fraud Office prosecution panel.
Prior to joining Britomart Chambers, Yvonne most recently held tenancy at Shortland Chambers. Yvonne also worked previously as a Crown prosecutor in criminal prosecutions and acted for government clients in civil proceedings.
Born in Shanghai, and raised both there and in New Zealand, Yvonne is bilingual in English and Chinese (including spoken dialects and written Chinese). This background gives her insight into the dimensions and nuances of the law as experienced by immigrant communities, particularly from China.
Yvonne is a co-chair of the Advocacy Committee and a member of the Diversity Committee of the New Zealand Bar Association.
Yvonne has a double degree in Law and Commerce (Finance) from the University of Auckland and a Master of Public and International Law from the University of Melbourne with First Class Honours. She was an Arthur Watts Fellowship intern at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (London) and an Inner Temple Pegasus Scholar (London).
