Tina Hwang is a Senior Associate of Queen City Law and is the Property Team Leader. Tina completed her LLB (Hons) degree at the University of Auckland and is a Co-Convenor of the Auckland District Law Society (ADLS) Property Law Committee as well as a member of the ADLS Property Disputes Committee.

After more than 10 years with award winning Boutique law firm, Queen City Law, Tina mainly practises in construction and litigation. Tina started her legal practice by assisting first time homebuyers and holding their hand through the seemingly overbearing processes involved and subsequently helped property developers and contractors. Tina has also been involved with various commercial acquisitions and disputes; construction projects (large and small- including new and recladding) as well as negotiating tenders and construction contracts; and with mediation and litigation. Tina is readily requested to assist in reviewing construction and consultancy agreements on construction projects as well as in resolving construction disputes. This can lead to litigation which she also attends to. Tina has developed expertise in construction issues and has presented papers at a number of New Zealand conferences and seminars on construction law. She contributes regularly to the Builders & Contractors Magazine.

Born in South Korea, but raised in New Zealand, Tina is completely bilingual. She loves sports including hockey, badminton and soccer and also has a passion for the beach and innovative art. Tina is interested in helping the youth community. She was the President of a charitable organisation promoting the awareness of multicultural identity (Kowiana Association of New Zealand) and was further a committee member of the Korean New Zealand Business Council being mindful of the need to build economic ties between South Korea and New Zealand. Tina also co-organised several children’s project called the “Our Children, Our Community” in Christchurch and Auckland (three times) inviting children from low decile schools or disadvantaged backgrounds to participate in a day of fun and inspiration with a police man, fireman, entertainer, designer and sports person supported by the firm and local businesses. She also regularly presents to church youth groups.
