Nathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws (Honours) conjoint degree, majoring in Finance and Economics, from the Victoria University of Wellington. He had taken many leadership positions throughout his studies, including roles as the president of the Victoria University of Wellington Law Students’​ Society and the Asian Law Students’ Association, and the president of the New Zealand Law Students’​ Association.
