Leo has a BSc/LLB (Hons) from the University of Auckland. Leo joined Tompkins Wake in 2022 as a senior associate in their dispute resolution and litigation team.

Leo is a civil and commercial litigator with experience and expertise across a broad range of areas.  He has appeared in trial and appellate proceedings across different levels of the Courts in New Zealand, including presenting oral submissions in the Supreme Court. He approaches his practice with a pragmatist’s mindset, and is trusted by clients to simplify complex issues and to solve problems effectively.

Prior to joining Tompkins Wake, Leo had completed a four-year stint as junior counsel on a high-profile commercial litigation which culminated in an appeal before the Supreme Court of New Zealand. This proceeding involved difficult issues specific to culturally and linguistically diverse parties, and Leo demonstrated perspective and skill in meeting these challenges.

Leo is fluent in Mandarin and familiar with Chinese cultural matters, especially within the context of Auckland’s multicultural landscape. Over the years, Leo has assisted Chinese clients who make up an important component to his practice.
