Kim was born in Hong Kong but grew up in New Zealand. After his admission to the Bar in 2011, he practised as a barrister in Christchurch and Auckland. In 2013 he moved to Hong Kong to complete further post-graduate studies before joining the Hong Kong Bar in 2016.

Kim has recently returned to New Zealand and works as a Senior Associate with K3 Legal in Auckland. He still retains his Hong Kong practising certificate and is a member of Bernacchi Chambers.

Kim’s practice areas are mainly in criminal and public law. Additionally, he has a keen interest in animal law, as well as wildlife crime both locally and internationally. He is also the Director and Founder of the Hong Kong Animal Law and Protection Organisation.

Kim speaks fluent Cantonese and continues to travel to and from Hong Kong for legal matters
