Auckland Uni Meetup by New Zealand Asian Lawyers Young Lawyers
On 28 March 2024, the Auckland Uni Meetup, organised by the New Zealand Asian Lawyers Young Lawyers, brought together lawyers and law students of Asian descent for an enriching session at the University of Auckland. Sponsored by McVeagh Fleming, the event aimed to bridge the gap between students and legal professionals, particularly focusing on the experiences and insights of Asian lawyers in New Zealand.
Six volunteer lawyers generously shared their time and expertise, engaging with a crowd of students who eagerly sought advice and perspectives about the transition from law school into the profession. From discussing career trajectories to addressing questions about the profession, the meetup provided an invaluable platform for knowledge exchange and mentorship. The event received overwhelming positive feedback. The Auckland Uni Meetup contributed to the promotion of diversity and the empowerment of aspiring law student of Asian background in New Zealand.
The Young Asian Lawyers Committee is currently looking for interested parties to join it as an Auckland University student representative on its Committee (from now until mid-2025). If you are interested, please send your expressions of interest to nzasianlawyers.ylcommittee@gmail.com.
